Wamiqa Gabbi Speaks Up On The ‘Pay Disparity’ Issue In Bollywood

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi has called out the pay disparity issues in the film industry. In an interview, she has questioned why male actors’ fees aren’t affected or reduced when their film becomes a flop, whereas woman often has to bear the criticism as well as the pay cuts.

Wamiqa Insists A ‘Equal Pay’

In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, Wamiqa Gabbi has spoken about the issue of pay disparity in the industry. She said, ‘The fact that pay disparity exists doesn’t affect me, but there is a feeling that if you’re a woman, you will be paid less, and that is how it is. The reason behind it is that a male actor can pull that much audience, but you cannot even make a film without a heroine. I do not understand the logic behind this. Sometimes, they go on to take a hero and pay a lot of money, and then the film doesn’t work out. In such a case, why are their fees not activated? ‘

Also, the actress said, ‘I want to find different ways to earn that money. I desire to do it in a creative way where I feel happier and decrease that pay gap for myself. I cannot deny the fact that pay disparity is present there. ‘

Wamiqa’s Work Front Update

The actress was recently seen in the film ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf,’ wherein she shared the screen with Rajkummar Rao. The film’s cast also includes Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, and Ishtiyak Khan. Dinesh Vijan has produced it under the banner of Maddock Films. Karan Sharma directed the film, and they released it in theatres on 23rd May, 2025.  Moreover, Wamiqa has two projects in her filmography, namely ‘Dil Ka Darwaza  Khol Na Darling’, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Goodachari 2.’
