Netflix Expanding Its Footprint In India Has Announced The Opening Of Its Global Production And Innovation Studio To Launch Creativity And Tourism Partnership

Netflix is significantly expanding its footprint in India as it completes a decade in the country, moving beyond streaming into production, creative technology, talent development and tourism.


The Netflix has opened Eyeline Studios, a 32,000-square-foot global production and innovation studio in Hyderabad. Equipped with advanced cloud infrastructure, visual-effects and virtual-production technology, the facility is Netflix’s fifth Eyeline location globally, alongside Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul and London. It is designed to strengthen India’s role in high-end global visual storytelling and create opportunities in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem.


Netflix launched the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative. 


A multi-phase investment that is aimed at developing the next generation of Indian creative talent with Netflix India Storytelling Initiative. Over the past decades,  Netflix has created more than 200 Original films and filmed in over 100 locations across India, building strong partnership and relationship with the country’s creative community.


The first phase has focused on youth skills,  through partnerships with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). With IICT, Netflix shall develop industry-ready Visual Effects alongside the Media Technology Workflows.


Netflix will offer 100 scholarships covering areas such as character animation, interactive comics, virtual art departments, e-sports and gaming management. The NFDC Partnership (National Film Development Corporation) will develop the talent in the accessibility related roles that will include the audio description writers  and voice over artists which will make Indian content more accessible to the audience worldwide. 


Netflix has a Strong Partnerships with Indian Entertainment


A major part of Netflix’s India worked on a strategy by collaborating with some of the country’s most established production houses.  Filmmakers and Production houses , their creative talent slated in 2026 were with some of the leading names such as Yash Raj Films, T-SeriesBhansali Productions, Jio Studios, Dharma Productions, Maddock, Junglee Pictures, Ajay Devgn Films, Balaji Telefilms, Colour Yellow Pictures to name a few .   Netflix also partnered with some of the leading production houses in the South such as Mythri Movie Makers, Vyjayanti Movies, Geetha Arts, Hombale Films 2D Entertainment , Raaj Kamal Films International etc.


These partnerships have worked closely with Netflix commitment and these most established entertainment industries have had a global platform for emerging voices   The relationship between Netflix and Indian cinema had further strengthened with creative partnerships with Yash Raj Films, Dharmatic Entertainment, Excel Entertainment and Raj & DK.   Netflix further invested in the next generation of writers through its, ‘NextGen India Writers Program’ which provides a platform for emerging writers and mentorship workshops and guidance to the industry to develop the original concepts. 


Netflix Regional Storytelling and Global Reach


Netflix is also expanding its content beyond Hindi content with its increase of regional presence. It has moved from Hindi language to the regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam films and series, while it clearly earmarked that reality shows, comedy specials and other unscripted formats are attracting wider audiences, thus reinforcing its commitment to South Indian Storytelling. 


The expansion has strong support from the Telangana and central governments, as it is seen that  Hyderabad has become an emerging global center for film, technology and AVGC. Netflix’s investment is expected to strengthen infrastructure, develop skilled talent, thus create new career opportunities for the youth and deepen India’s integration with the global entertainment industry.


As Netflix enters its second decade in India, its strategy reflects a broader vision: to make India not only a major entertainment market, but also a global hub for storytelling, creative technology, production and talent.


Tourism and Economic Impact


Tourism is another important element of the strategy. Netflix has partnered with the Ministry of  Culture and Ministry of Tourism to promote Indian destinations featured in its films and series through a dedicated section,  “As Seen on Netflix” which features on the India website where audience will discover real  world locations, cultural traditional and experience the destinations which will encourage the tourism. This incredible strategy aims to aim to connect popular screen stories with real-world destinations.


Netflix is creating a tangible economic opportunity with its investment. Its production house Operation Safed Sagar has contributed over Rs. 215 crores to the Indian economy. It engaged over 850 local businesses and created opportunities for over 400 daily hiring and also partnered with 15 VFX studios that involved employment to 1200 artists.

 

Netflix with its second decade in India has a broader vision to streamline. Netflix is investing in Indian stories, creators, technology, skills, production infrastructure, entertainment partnership and the tourism together it is helping to position India as the major global hub for storytelling and for its creative innovations, taking Indian stories and talent across to a global platform across the world.
