Malamaal Weekly 2 Locked Riteish Deshmukh Elvish Yadav Paresh Rawal & Rajpal Yadav Join Comedy Sequel

Priyadarshan’s 2006 comedy hit Malamaal Weekly is officially getting a sequel, and the film is shaping up with an exciting mix of returning favourites and a fresh face. Riteish Deshmukh, Elvish Yadav, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav have been locked as the principal male cast, with formal paperwork currently underway.

Riteish is expected to headline the film, although sources indicate that he is still reading the script and is yet to formally sign. Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav will reunite with him, while Elvish Yadav joins the franchise as a new addition. The popular content creator and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner will be making his second Bollywood appearance after his upcoming action-drama debut.

The sequel will feature a completely new story while retaining the original film’s signature mix of poverty, greed, sudden wealth and small-town chaos. Amit Joshi, who co-directed Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, has been brought on board to direct the project. He is currently fine-tuning the screenplay, with production scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The female cast reportedly includes Parineeti Chopra, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shirodkar.

Released in 2006, Malamaal Weekly became a box-office success and was later remade in Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The original revolved around villagers fighting over a lottery fortune, creating a hilarious chain of greed, rivalry and misunderstandings.

Malamaal Weekly 2 is expected to carry forward that comic spirit while presenting a fresh, full-fledged comedy of errors for a new generation of audiences.
